Sauna Rocks
Sauna Rocks are an essential part of the heater. They provide lots of thermal density, to hold in the heat and release it gradually. When water is splashed over the rocks, it creates steam, an essential part of the sauna experience.
Deep Rock heaters can take advantage of this by greatly increasing the density of rocks. Other styles, such as tower heaters, have rocks down to the floor. This is an easy solution to the traditional saying that the feet should be above the rocks, as it provides radiant heat at lower heights.
Our rocks are Igneous Granite Diabase, mined in Ontario. These rocks are dense, and will hold in the heat for a long time, without the risk of rocks splitting when water is poured over them. These rocks are typically under 4" diameter, and are designed for use in electric heaters.
Rocks are packaged with 33-35 pounds per box. We recommend washing the rocks annually, and inspecting for damage. Rocks should be replaced every 5 years or so.
